Adult Learn to Play scrimmage
In 2018, Winterland will again organize a 2 part program for their Adult Learn to Play participants. Each is an 8 week session. The first part we call our "Learn to Skate/Play" session which will cover all the fundamentals of playing. For example, Skating both forward and backward, cross-overs, c-cuts, stick-handling and shooting. With a game on the last night.
The 2nd part will be called our "Extended Learn to Play" that will be more of an educational program for learning the many facets of the Game. For example, Fore-checking, Back-checking, Power Play, Penalty Kill, Stick-check, Poke-check, Gap control, Breakouts, changing on the fly, plus passing. With a game on the last night.
It is our intent to give our participants a wide spectrum of hockey exposure. We know that in an 8 week session we cannot teach everything there is to know about the Game but what we can do is plant a whole lot of seeds and give the participants a wide variety of things to think about.
But most important is that the participants have fun. There is no doubt that the better you get the more fun you have playing but you have to start somewhere and we think our Winterland Adult Learn to Play programs are the best place to start.
